About This Site

E-Book Readers Hub is a reading site, not a gadget site. We cover e-ink e-readers, e-ink tablets you can write on, reading-friendly tablets and the cases that make a device easier to hold. Every review comes from daily use in an ordinary home: library loans, bedtime reading, tired eyes and sore hands included. We explain the small details that decide whether a device actually gets picked up, and we say plainly when something is not worth it.

Reading Device Safety

E-readers and tablets run on lithium-ion batteries. Charge them with the cable and a reputable charger, never leave a device charging under a pillow or on a bed, and stop using any device whose case is swelling, unusually hot, or cracked. Keep devices out of hot parked cars and direct summer sun.

"Waterproof" ratings describe specific lab conditions, usually fresh water for a limited time. Salt water, pool chemicals, hot tubs and a soak in the bath are not covered, and charging ports must be fully dry before you plug in. Do not read in the bath on a device that is plugged in.

Long reading sessions can cause eye strain and neck or hand discomfort. Take regular breaks, adjust screen brightness and warmth to the room, and talk to your eye doctor or physician about persistent eye, wrist or thumb pain rather than relying on a device to fix it. Keep small parts such as styluses and pen tips away from young children.
